The Futility of Thought: A Return to Ease

Your thoughts, those seemingly profound musings and endless worries, are nothing more than a malfunction of the nervous system. They are born from the stagnation of unresolved threat within the body, rising like smoke to the mind, where they coalesce into words and fuel elaborate stories.

These stories, however captivating or convincing, are ultimately useless distractions. They pull us away from the present moment, entangling us in a web of past regrets and future anxieties. They keep us chasing after fleeting pleasures and avoiding inevitable pains, perpetuating a cycle of suffering.

Animals, in their innate wisdom, understand this truth. They do not dwell on the past or fret about the future. They simply move the energy that arises within them, whether it be pleasure or pain, and return to a state of ease.

We, too, can learn from their example. We can stop chasing after thoughts, stop clinging to stories, and simply be present to the sensations of our bodies and the world around us. We can allow ourselves to feel fully, to experience the full spectrum of human emotion, without getting lost in the narrative.

This is not about suppressing our thoughts or denying our feelings. It is about recognizing their true nature as fleeting phenomena, arising and passing away in the vast expanse of consciousness. It is about returning to the zero point, the state of pure awareness where there is no separation between self and other, between subject and object.

In this state of ease, there is no need for thought, no need for stories. There is only the present moment, the raw, unfiltered experience of life itself. This is where true freedom lies, the freedom from the tyranny of the mind and the endless pursuit of happiness.

So, let go of your thoughts. Let go of your stories. Return to the simplicity of being, to the pure awareness that is your birthright. For in this space of nothingness, you will find everything you have ever sought.
